Wheatly MacNamara and Gareth Earl Named Among Financial News’ Fifty Most Influential Lawyers
Simpson Thacher European Managing Partner Wheatly MacNamara and Gareth Earl, Head of the Firm’s European Funds Practice, have been named among 2025’s “Fifty Most Influential Lawyers” by Financial News in its annual list ranking the top legal professionals ranking in Europe. Wheatly was recognized for her leadership of the Firm’s more than 400 staff in London, Luxembourg and Brussels. Her work advising on major transactions, including advising Blackstone in more than 200 acquisitions to create the Mileway last-mile logistics platform, as well as Mileway’s €21 billion recapitalization, was also highlighted. Gareth was featured for his work advising “on some of the biggest and most complex funds in Europe,” including one of the largest ever raised—CVC Capital Partners’ ninth flagship private equity fund, CVC Capital Partners IX, which raised €26 billion in 2023.
