Simpson Thacher is representing Grant Thornton Advisors LLC (“Grant Thornton Advisors”) in connection with the further expansion of Grant Thornton’s multinational platform through the pending acquisition of Grant Thornton Brazil. The transaction is expected to close later this year.
The transaction will extend the platform’s reach into Latin America’s biggest market and follows on the heels of similar deals that will add Grant Thornton New Zealand and Grant Thornton Poland to the platform. The additions will expand the platform’s integrated cross-border footprint to include 16 firms spanning 20 time zones.
Grant Thornton Advisors launched its platform earlier this year with the support of an investor group led by New Mountain Capital — and is bringing high-performing firms across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and the Asia Pacific region into an integrated advisory and tax practice, complemented by independent audit practices. The platform currently includes Grant Thornton firms in the US, Ireland, France, the United Arab Emirates, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, the Channel Islands and the Cayman Islands. Additionally, it has announced transactions with Grant Thornton firms in Spain, Luxembourg, New Zealand and Poland. Further, it has added top firms serving strategic markets and industries, including Auxis, a pioneer in outsourcing and business modernization — and Stax, a specialist in commercial due diligence and value creation. Simpson Thacher has represented Grant Thornton Advisors in connection with each of these transactions.
The Simpson Thacher team includes Grenfel S. Calheiros, Ben Schaye, Daisy Wu, Luiz F. Noronha, Isabel de Carvalho, Susan Uquillas, Isaac Cattan, Isabela C. Sanchez and Aline Januario Farias (M&A); Linda Barrett, Andrew Blau, Allison Sutherland, John O’Neill, Nicolas Deguines, Taylor Nicole Todd and Benjamin Faber (Executive Compensation and Employee Benefits); Steven DeLott (Insurance); Caroline Geiger, Margerite Blase and Peter S.
