Simpson Thacher Attorneys Speak about Prediction Markets at Investment Company Institute
Adam Aderton, Justin Browder, and Anne Choe, Partners in the Firm’s Asset Management Regulatory and Enforcement Practice, spoke on a webinar hosted by the Investment Company Institute (ICI) on February 19. The webinar, entitled, “ICI Deep Dive on Prediction Markets with Simpson Thacher,” provided an introduction to prediction markets, which are platforms where participants trade contracts based on the outcome of future events. Adam, Justin, and Anne explored the exponential increase in event contract volumes, the current regulatory landscape for these products, and potential use cases for event contracts in registered funds and other asset management products. They also provided practical advice for investment advisers to registered funds on evaluating their compliance programs to encompass prediction markets.
