10.23.26

Corporate Partners Juan M. Naveira and Gabriel Silva were featured speakers at the Latin Lawyer Live: Private Equity 2026 conference, which took place on October 22 at Simpson Thacher’s New York office. The annual conference brings together leading practitioners, regulatory specialists, and private equity professionals to explore the legal and transactional developments shaping investment across Latin America.

Juan served as 2026 Co-Chair of the conference and delivered the chairs’ opening and closing remarks. He also moderated the panel, “Private Equity Manager Perspectives: Current State of Affairs, Diversification of Strategies and Anticipating Risks and Trends,” which examined how private equity managers are navigating today’s market, including whether the IPO market is recovering, possible paths out of the exits slump and the growing role of continuation funds and secondaries in providing liquidity. In addition, Juan joined a fireside chat with Luis Cervantes, Managing Director and Head of General Atlantic’s Mexico City office.

Gabriel moderated a panel, “Wired for Growth: The Development of Digital Infrastructure in LatAm,” which examined how investors can capitalize on the region’s fast-growing digital infrastructure and data center market as AI adoption expands worldwide. The discussion opened with lessons from the more mature U.S. market before turning to opportunities across Latin America and the factors that make-or-break projects on the ground, including power, permitting, water and new incentive regimes such as Brazil’s REDATA program and those in Mexico and Chile. The panel closed with a look at what’s next for data centers, fiber and the broader digital infrastructure build-out in the region.
