Simpson Thacher Attorneys Author Article on Strike Down of Texas Anti-ESG Law
Partners Leah Malone and May Mansour, and Associates Taylor Cowan and Chayla Sherrod authored an article in The Columbia Law School Blue Sky Blog titled, “Simpson Thacher Discusses Striking Down of Texas Anti-ESG Law.” The article discussed the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas’ issuance of an opinion declaring Texas’ anti-ESG law SB 13 to be unconstitutional under the First and Fourteenth Amendments. The article detailed the background of SB 13 and the lawsuit challenging it, as well as provided an explanation of the District Court’s opinion. The article further offered broader implications of the SB 13 ruling, including how the arguments in this ruling could lead to similar action in other states.
