Tony Liu is a Partner of the Firm and a Transaction Manager in the Hong Kong office, and a member of the Asia Private Funds Practice. He focuses on advising private investment fund sponsors on fund formation and related matters across Asia and globally.
Tony represents leading international sponsors on the establishment of private investment funds across a wide range of asset classes, including buyout, venture capital, real estate, credit and secondaries. His experience includes advising sponsors such as Affinity, Cinven, Coller Capital, CVC and EQT.
Tony joined the Firm in 2022 and has practiced in London, Hong Kong and Singapore. He received his law degree from the National University of Singapore, is admitted to practice in Singapore, and is a native Mandarin speaker.
Tony will be based in the Firm’s Singapore office upon its announced opening in 2026.

Tony joined the Firm’s London office in 2022 and relocated to Hong Kong in 2024. During his time in London, he completed a secondment with Coller Capital. Prior to joining Simpson Thacher, he practiced at an international law firm in Singapore. Upon the opening of the Firm’s Singapore office in 2026, Tony will be primarily based in Singapore.
Tony received his law degree from the National University of Singapore. He is a native Mandarin speaker and is admitted to practice in Singapore.
