Harry Briffitt is Counsel in the Firm’s Banking and Credit Practice. He advises private equity sponsors and borrowers on complex, high value leveraged buyouts and acquisition financings. Harry’s practice includes advising on cross-border LBOs, public-to-private transactions, holdco financings and bank/bond deals. He has worked with leading sponsors including Apax, Blackstone, Carlyle, Cinven, Oakley Capital and Silver Lake.

Harry Briffitt is Counsel in Simpson Thacher’s Banking and Credit Practice based in London. Harry has extensive experience advising leading financial sponsors and corporate borrowers on complex, high value buyouts and acquisition financings. His practice includes advising on cross-border LBOs, public-to-private transactions, holdco financings and bank/bond deals. Harry also acts for sponsors on a range of fund finance matters including capital call facilities, NAV financings and co-invest leverage. Harry has acted for clients including Apax, Blackstone, Carlyle, Cinven, Melrose Industries, Oakley Capital and Silver Lake.

Whilst at the Firm, Harry has also spent time on secondment with Carlyle’s European Capital Markets team in London.

Notable experience includes advising:

  • Apax Partners on the acquisition of atHome Group and on the recommended offer to acquire Apax Global Alpha Limited
  • Silver Lake on the acquisition of Software AG, on the acquisition of Facile.it and on the merger of Cegid and Grupo Primavera

Harry received his LPC from BPP Law School in Holborn in 2014, his Graduate Diploma in Law from BPP Law School in 2013 and his MChem in Chemistry from the University of Manchester in 2012. During his undergraduate studies, Harry spent a year at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, during which he completed research studies at the Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Harry is admitted to practice in England and Wales.
