Katherine Krause is a Partner in the Firm’s Corporate Department. She regularly advises private equity firms and public companies on mergers and acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, spin-offs, recapitalizations and other business combination transactions. In the past she has represented private equity clients, including Goldman Sachs Asset Management, GTCR and Hellman & Friedman, as well as strategic clients and portfolio companies on M&A transactions. Over her career, Katherine has advised on significant corporate matters across a wide range of sectors including private equity, infrastructure and venture capital, among others. She was recently named as one of The Deal’s “Top Women in Dealmaking” and was recognized as one of The American Lawyer’s 2023 “Dealmakers of the Year”.

Katherine Krause is a Partner in the Firm’s Corporate Department. She regularly advises private equity firms and public companies on mergers and acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, spin-offs, recapitalizations and other business combination transactions. In the past she has represented private equity clients, including Goldman Sachs Asset Management, GTCR and Hellman & Friedman, as well as strategic clients and portfolio companies on M&A transactions. Over her career, Katherine has advised on significant corporate matters across a wide range of sectors including private equity, infrastructure and venture capital, among others. She was recently named as one of The Deal’s “Top Women in Dealmaking” and was recognized as one of The American Lawyer’s 2023 “Dealmakers of the Year”.  

Prior to joining Simpson Thacher, Katherine was most recently a Managing Director in the Legal Department at Goldman Sachs. During her tenure, she was responsible for supporting the Merchant Banking Division (MBD) in connection with principal investments and dispositions across corporate equity and debt, infrastructure and venture capital opportunities, as well as in connection with fundraising, litigation and regulatory compliance matters. She was also a member of MBD’s Infrastructure Investment Committee and MBD’s Client and Business Standards Committee.

    Katherine received her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006, where she was Associate Editor of the Journal of International Economic Law. She received her A.B. from Harvard College in 2000 and studied international affairs at Columbia University.
