Simpson Thacher Corporate Partner David Sorkin was featured in December's The American Lawyer "Inside the Deal" column. The article, "Covering All the Bases" focuses on Mr. Sorkin's role in two recent transactions. In the first transaction, Simpson Thacher is representing a consortium of investors consisting of The Blackstone Group, Hellman & Friedman LLC, Kohlberg Kravis & Roberts & Co. and The Texas Pacific Group in the pending sale of Texas Genco. The consortium acquired Texas Genco from CenterPoint Energy for $3.65 billion in December 2004, and agreed to sell the company in October 2005 to NRG Energy Inc. for $8.3 billion.
