Simpson Thacher Represents Peabody Energy Corporation in $650 Million Debt Offering

Simpson Thacher represented Peabody Energy Corporation in the offering of $650 million aggregate principal amount of its 6-1/2% Senior Notes due 2020. The proceeds of the offering were used to purchase for cash any and all of its outstanding 6-7/8% senior notes due 2013 that were validly tendered pursuant to a tender offer launched on August 11, 2010.

Peabody Energy is the world's largest private-sector coal company and a global leader in clean coal solutions. With 2009 sales of 244 million tons and $6 billion in revenues, Peabody fuels 10% of U.S. power and 2% of worldwide electricity.
