Simpson Thacher matters have been shortlisted in multiple categories for Global Competition Review’s GCR Awards 2026. The Firm’s work advising Amedisys in resolving the Department of Justice’s suit to block its acquisition by UnitedHealth Group is shortlisted for “Merger Control of the Year (Americas).” The settlement favorably resolved claims brought by the DOJ along with the Attorneys General of Maryland, Illinois, New Jersey and New York. Mattress Firm’s acquisition by Tempur Sealy International, for which Simpson Thacher defeated the FTC’s motion for a preliminary injunction to block the deal, is also shortlisted for “Merger Control of the Year (Americas).”
Additionally, Partner Lindsey Bohl was named a finalist for “Lawyer of the Year (Under 40).” Lindsey advised on both shortlisted matters above, in addition to representing BrightSpring Health Services in connection with the FTC review and approval of its sale of the ResCare Community Living Business to Sevita. Lindsey also advised HCA on the sale of Terre Haute Regional Hospital to Union Hospital, which included securing COPA approval from the Indiana Department of Health, over the FTC’s opposition.
Held annually, the GCR Awards honor the most significant antitrust and competition cases from the past year. Winners will be selected by GCR readers, competition advisors and lawyers, in a vote concluding on February 9.
