Mike Kuh and Eric Geffner Quoted in The American Lawyer on Sports Dealmaking Landscape
Mike Kuh and Eric Geffner, Co-Heads of Simpson Thacher’s Sports group, were quoted in an article in The American Lawyer titled, “PE Investment in Sports Expands.” The article discussed the prominent investment landscape in the sports industry, particularly for private equity. Mike explained, “The institutionalization of sports has transformed it into a full‑scale asset class…These are no longer merely relationship‑driven or one‑off deals in the major leagues. They require sophisticated, integrated advice across disciplines as they can land across sports and sports adjacent assets, both popular and up-and-coming.” Eric further highlighted that, “With private equity now active across every major league, areas like women’s sports still relatively untapped and adjacent assets like data analytics and venues marking the next frontier, we’re still in the early innings.”
