Sacha Gofton-Salmond

Sacha Gofton-Salmond, based in the Firm’s London office, is a Partner in the Fund Transactions Practice. She advises clients on the structuring and negotiation of complex secondary market solutions, including GP-led and LP-led secondary transactions, preferred equity financings and other structured secondary transactions in relation to both concentrated assets and diversified portfolios. In addition, she advises asset managers and their investors on co-investment transactions and also provides counsel on fund-level and manager restructurings.

Prior to joining Simpson Thacher, Sacha advised on many significant GP-led and LP-led secondary transactions, including deals backed by Ardian, CPP Investments, Coller Capital, Glendower, HarbourVest Partners, Kline Hill, ICG, LGT, Neuberger Berman and Pantheon.

Notable recent experience prior to joining Simpson Thacher includes representing:

• Hermes GPE on numerous GP-led secondary transactions, including a $730 million stapled GP-led strip sale into a continuation fund backed by a CPPIB-led syndicate, a $350 million GP-led strip sale into a continuation fund backed by a leading global secondary investor-led syndicate and numerous GP-led tender offers backed by leading global secondary investors.
• A leading European private equity manager on a $200 million strip sale of six assets into a continuation fund.
• A leading FTSE 250 listed corporate VC on the spin out of several high growth VC assets into a new vehicle backed by a leading secondary investor.
• A leading European venture capital manager on a GP-led secondary transaction underwritten by HarbourVest Partners.
• Several leading European and U.S. headquartered secondary funds on their investments into various GP-led and LP-led secondary transactions involving concentrated assets and large portfolios.
• Several leading U.K. pension schemes on LP secondary sale transactions including a $2.25 billion LP portfolio reorganization.
• Several leading LPs on secondary portfolio and line by line sales.

Sacha is at the forefront of the secondaries market and her insights have been featured in a number of industry publications including Private Equity International, Private Equity News and Private Funds CFO, among others. She has also been a regular speaker for Invest Europe's secondary transactions course.

Sacha earned her LPC from BPP Law School in 2008 and received a LLB from University of Bristol in 2007. She is admitted to practice in England and Wales.
