Matt Kelly and Kim Le Quoted in Lexology on Developing Workplace Policies for Smart Glasses

Matt Kelly, Head of Simpson Thacher’s AI Practice, and Kim Le, Head of Simpson Thacher’s West Coast Privacy and Cybersecurity team, were quoted in a Lexology article titled, “Why your company should not ban smart glasses – and what to do instead,” discussing best practices for developing workplace policies governing the use of smart glasses. Kim noted, “Companies should generally plan to provide guidance and training to employees who interact with third parties as part of their job responsibilities about when third-party recording can be permitted and the steps they can take if they suspect they are being recorded without consent.” Matt added that when working remotely, “Employees should be told that they are not allowed to use recording features of the devices when handling company information or engaging with other employees.”
