Simpson Thacher represented Bruin Capital in connection with the establishment of a new investment vehicle which has raised $1 billion. 26North and The Jordan Company (TJC) are the lead investors in the vehicle, which is Bruin’s fourth, and largest, investment vehicle since being founded in 2015.
The vehicle will target companies providing services and technology to sports teams around the world. Bruin plans to invest in so called “second-level” enablers in the sports ecosystem, such as data providers, sports betting groups or companies providing technology to build direct-to-consumer streaming platforms.
The Simpson Thacher team included James R. Howe, Chris Vallance, Sean Macdonald, Ella Hammond and Jamie Lai (M&A); Jordan Cross and Devon Berman (Funds); Jennifer J. Levitt, Connor Maag, Eszter Boldis and Franklin Castro (Credit), Benjamin Rippeon, Andrew B. Purcell and Andrew Wasilick (Tax), Mark B. Skerry and Shinae Yoon (CFIUS), Étienne Renaudeau and Henry Llewellyn (Antitrust), and David W. Blass and Jennie Getsin (Regulatory).
