Managing Partner of Simpson Thacher’s Bay Area offices Atif Azher was named among the Daily Journal’s “Top 100 Lawyers in California” for 2026. The Daily Journal highlighted Atif’s trailblazing work in the technology sector, including representing ByteDance Ltd. and its affiliates in connection with the formation of TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC and advising Hellman & Friedman on the formation of a high-profile, first-of-its-kind enterprise AI services platform alongside Anthropic, Blackstone and Goldman Sachs.
“ByteDance’s formation of TikTok USDS Joint Venture was one of the highest stakes, most closely scrutinized deals in the technology sector in recent years,” Atif told Daily Journal. “In addition to the complex nature of the deal itself, we faced immense geopolitical and regulatory pressure.”
