Clerkships:

Judge John M. Walker, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit; Judge H. Lee Sarokin, U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey

Clerking for two federal judges was an enormously rewarding experience. I learned about the development of the law and the thoughtful administration of justice. I formed lifelong friendships and mentoring relationships. And I saw firsthand the attributes of compelling advocacy, both in written submissions and oral presentations, which has been extraordinarily valuable in my career as a litigator and trial attorney.

Clerkship:

Judge Eric N. Vitaliano, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York

Clerking was a career-altering experience for me. Working every day for a federal judge gave me experiences and insights that made me a better strategist, writer, and advocate, especially in my government and internal investigations practice. Young lawyers who have had this experience are well-positioned to succeed at Simpson Thacher.

Recent Accomplishments

Our lawyers routinely navigate cutting-edge legal issues, employing creativity and strategic thinking to achieve the best outcomes for our clients. Some of our recent accomplishments include:
  • An antitrust victory for Change Healthcare following a twelve-day bench trial that cleared the way for the company's $13.8 billion acquisition by UnitedHealth Group.
  • Negotiating a highly favorable settlement for female student-athletes at Hawaii's largest high school in a Title IX athletics class action alleging gender inequalities.
  • Defeating a challenge to the legality of Bumble Inc.'s stockholder voting rights provisions on a motion for summary judgment.

Simpson Thacher is an ideal home for clerks as they transition into private practice and continue to grow as lawyers. The Firm values the clerkship experience, recognizing that law clerks bring a unique set of skills and perspectives to solving our clients’ most challenging problems.
